Find Liberty Busted Mugshots

A name, an approximate arrest date, and the agency involved are the best starting points when looking for Liberty busted mugshots. Liberty Police may hold the incident report, but the Union County Sheriff's Office controls the jail intake record and any booking photograph after a person enters county custody. The current inmate document, a focused records request, and the court docket answer different questions. Anyone arrested in Liberty is presumed innocent unless a court proves guilt, and the allegation recorded during booking may later be changed or dismissed.

How Liberty Arrests Become Records

Liberty is Union County's county seat and largest incorporated town. STATS Indiana's Census-based place estimates put its July 1, 2024 population at 1,981. Its role as county seat brings several institutions close together, but their files remain separate. The official county dispatch page confirms both Liberty Police and sheriff service. Liberty Police can investigate or make an arrest, the Union County Jail accepts and documents custody, and Union Circuit Court later records the criminal case.

An arrest report is not the same file as a jail booking. Liberty Police generally holds its own incident or arrest report. Once the jail accepts a person, the Sheriff's Office holds the intake and custody materials, including any existing booking photograph. A prosecutor may then file different charges, and the court may amend, dismiss, or resolve them. A person cited or released without jail intake might never appear in the county inmate document. A name missing after release does not mean the arrest never happened.

Where Liberty Busted Mugshots Appear

Official custodians should be checked before news or private databases. Union County does not offer a Liberty Police blotter, a same-day booking feed, or a searchable jail database. The sheriff's current route is a scanned document reached from its homepage. Its fields, photo coverage, update schedule, and removal timing are not explained. That limited publication model makes the records-request fallback especially important.

No Union County sheriff mobile app was found. The official sheriff Facebook page may carry selected announcements, but its arrest-post frequency and photo use were not verifiable, so it is not a roster. Busted Newspaper omitted Union County, Indiana at research time; RecentlyBooked's guessed route returned HTTP 410; Mugshots.zone omitted the county; and no indexed Arrests.org section was confirmed. Results for Union Counties in other states are not local evidence.

Busted in Liberty: Lookup Steps

Follow the person's custody stage instead of whichever result ranks first in a web search.

  1. Open the Union County Sheriff's Office homepage and select “Inmate Search.” Start there because the linked PDF asset can change.
  2. Note the apparent document date and visually check likely spellings. The scan has no name field, date filter, sortable list, structured profile, or published archive.
  3. If the name is absent, call the jailer at 765-458-5194, extension 3. Release, transfer, posting delay, spelling, or lawful withholding can explain a miss.
  4. For an older booking, ask the sheriff separately for the booking/intake record and associated booking/intake photograph. Give the full name and a narrow date range.
  5. For an arrest investigated by Liberty Police, request the incident report from that department. Do not ask it to produce a sheriff-held jail photo.
  6. Search MyCase for filed charges, amendments, orders, plea, judgment, sentence, or dismissal.

The Union County booking and roster guide explains the wider custody ladder. Someone committed to state prison belongs in the Indiana Department of Correction locator, not the county's current list. It can be searched by name or DOC number and may show an identification image where available. It does not cover an ordinary newly booked county detainee. Federal or immigration custody requires the relevant federal locator rather than a county or IDOC search.

Request Liberty Arrest Records

The Liberty Police Department is at 1 S. Fairground St., Liberty, IN 47353, and its administrative number is 765-458-5721. No daily bulletin, dedicated online police-record request form, special copy fee, or promised production time was found on the town site. For an identifiable LPD event, give a name, incident date or narrow range, location if known, and the specific incident or arrest report sought.

Town Hall can help with municipal administrative routing at 101 Brownsville Ave., Liberty, IN 47353; 765-458-5823; or libertytown56@gmail.com. Its published hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The town contact should not replace the jail custodian. If jail intake occurred, send the booking request to the Union County Sheriff's Office, 106 E. Union St., Liberty, IN 47353, at ucsheriff@unioncountyin.us or 765-458-5194.

Indiana's Access to Public Records Act is the fallback when a record is not posted. The county access guidance recommends describing the record with reasonable particularity. Ask for existing records, not an explanation or a newly created report. Agencies may redact juvenile, sealed, expunged, victim-identifying, medical, active-investigatory, security-sensitive, and other protected information. No local booking-photo price is published, so request a cost estimate rather than assuming a fee.

Liberty Busted Roster Limits

The sheriff labels its link “Inmate Search,” but the research-time destination was an image-only PDF. Browser find may not work, assistive technology may have difficulty reading it, and there is no way to filter for Liberty arrests. The sheriff does not state whether it covers only people currently held, how quickly an intake appears, when released names disappear, or whether older copies remain accessible.

Do not infer a daily schedule from the date-like PDF filename. A careful description is that a name was or was not located in the posted document on the date checked. A roster can include people awaiting court, serving a local sentence, held on another court's warrant, or awaiting transfer. It cannot establish guilt. A booking charge is an initial accusation and can differ from the prosecutor's filed information or final judgment.

Liberty Busted Mugshots in News

Local news fills in what rosters miss. The Liberty Herald writes about Union County each week, pulling from police releases, court filings, and agency social posts, and it sometimes runs an arrest story with a photograph. Kicks 96 takes a wider regional view but still touches on Liberty, and booking photos show up there now and then. WHIO tends to pick up the bigger Liberty Police releases. None of these papers tracks every single booking. They chase stories with news value.

A caption matters more than the picture itself. Before trusting that an image is really a mugshot, read who supplied it, because agencies hand out booking photos, other ID images, and plain news art alike. Keep the article's date and its exact wording, then take the case number to MyCase to see how things turned out in court. The Mugshots in the News guide walks through that same story-to-court trail.

The Liberty Herald news section for Union County local coverage
The Liberty Herald is a local-news source, not an official jail roster or complete arrest feed.

The snapshot shows how tightly the outlet sticks to local news. It can't promise full coverage, though. Not every Liberty arrest becomes a story. Not every story runs a booking photo. For custody questions, the sheriff and the courts keep the records that count.

After a Liberty Jail Booking

Bond at the Liberty jail gets paid in person at the Sheriff's Department. Cash works. So do major credit cards, with a 9% service fee. The person paying must be 18 or older and show valid ID. Those rules say nothing about whether bond is even an option in a given case, what the amount is, or how fast someone walks out. Another hold can block release too. The court order and the jail's own processing settle all of that.

No booking-photo gallery is hosted here, and no paid-removal service gets a recommendation either.
